Snowflake Moray Eel (Echidna nebulosa)
Notes: The Snowflake Moray Eel is actually very docile and can be kept in a peaceful community aquarium, however it can also thrive in an aggressive predator tank. Make sure to provide it with a cave where it can hide. As it becomes accustomed to its new aquarium it will venture out more and more into the open looking for food. Make sure to keep the tank covered to prevent the eel from jumping out. The Snowflake Moray Eel will not eat corals, but may eat some invertebrates or sick clams. While the Snowflake Moray Eel may go over a month without eating in the wild it is best to feed it once or twice a week. To feed it place a piece of squid, shrimp, clam, or fish on the end of a feeder stick and bring it near the eel’s mouth. Sometimes you may want to bump the eel’s snout with the food gently to get its attention. Continue offering it food until it stops eating. After several feedings the eel will begin to recognize the feeder stick and will often come out of its hole and grab the food off the end of the stick.
